With fall around the corner, and a high amount of interest and bookings, I’ve been hit with a whole bunch of questions. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to chat about some of the pros and “cons” of mini sessions!

Pros of Mini Sessions

Mini sessions are perfect ‘filler’ sessions to keep your family photos up-to-date between full sessions.

If your life is super busy, mini sessions are typically easier to fit in to your schedule. As long as you can snag a spot for my limited mini sessions, you’re good to go!

If you’re a potential new client and want to get to know each other a bit before committing to a full session, mini sessions offer a chance to work with me and for us to ‘try each other out’. Let’s get together!

If you have toddlers with short attention spans (or teens who will only cooperate for a limited amount of time), mini sessions and their shorter time commitment can be helpful!

Everything is taken care of. There’s no need to plan wardrobe changes or clean your home. Just show up!

Cons of a Mini Session – or, Why a Full Session May Be a Better Fit for Your Family

Mini sessions are limited and time slots fill quickly, so be sure you receive my emails if you have your heart set on a mini session!

They aren’t as in-depth as full sessions. With the longer, full session time comes the time for me to fully get to know each member of your family. We’ll create meaningful portraits and grab those candid images, too, that tell your family’s full story!

Because mini sessions produce a more limited number of images, a full session allows us to create more than a handful of updated family portraits. With a full session, you’ll receive timeless classics to adorn your walls for years to come.

Full sessions allow you the opportunity to change outfits or locations!

Mini sessions aren’t as personalized as full sessions. I really like to give each client their own photo shoot and find ideas they love or photograph them in a place or places that are meaningful to them. Mini sessions don’t allow a lot of time for those more artistic photos, though they are still fun!

These are the main pros and cons of mini sessions. I like to be sure mini sessions fit for those clients I haven’t worked with so we can be sure you are going to have a great experience in our short time together, and beautiful images you’ll love! As a photographer, I love all kinds of sessions. No matter the type of session, I get to catch up with the families I work with all the time, or meet new families that end up being fantastic clients and friends! I am so excited to meet new clients this season, and I cannot wait to catch up with my friends.
